Before the official start of the European Unified Patent Court (UPC), a sunrise period lasting about three months will begin. During the sunrise period, patent proprietors can register “opt-out” requests for any granted European patents and make use of transitional provisions for pending European patent applications.

To help focus on the practicalities, the presenters will discuss the following topics during the webinar:

  • The Unitary Patent and Unified Patent Court system in Europe
  • What does it mean to opt-out
  • What does it mean to opt-in
  • Advantages and disadvantages of obtaining a Unitary Patent
